Ready Go Fun!

Oh sweet freedom!  I'm ready for some bunburyin' fun (love Earnest) and awesome 2012 adventures this Fall - let's go!

Here are a few upcoming events that I will be making plans for ASAP (hopefully can check off a few things this weekend!) - coming?

  • [SHOW]: Cyrano de Bergerac - I just have to see this - it's a classic play about love...and a large nose that seems to get in the way in more ways than one.  (Plus, "Fleur" from Harry Potter: ). [Roundabout Theater (227 W 42nd), Now thru 11/25]
    • TIX: We can get $22 HipTix with code "HIPTIX" (for 18-35 year olds, rear mezz, 2pp) or  Claudia from broadwayforbrokepeople.com says there are also $21.50 Rush Tix, available when the Box Office opens at 10am - 2 tix pp, rear mezz, cash or credit.  That works too!
  • [SHOW]: Other shows I want to see:
    • Peter and the Starcatcher - $27 lottery 2 hrs before curtain
    • ONCE - Tues-Thurs $34.50, Sun-Fri $39.50
    • Mystery of Edwin Drood - Revival of a "triple crown" winner of best musical, best book, and best score.  Fingers crossed there are still $10 preview tix or HipTix! (Previews begin Oct. 19)
  • [SHOPPING]: American Apparel Soho Factory Outlet is back - up to 90% off.
  • [FOOD]: San Gennero Festival in Little Italy (until 9/23) - Wed 9/19 is the Official Feast Day.  Perfect.
  • [FOOD]: Sweet (Potato)!  I may have found the best sweet potato fries in NY. Share if you may know somewhere better, and we may have to duel: ) - 67 Burger in Fort Greene, BK - the coolest neighborhood, yep.
  • [PARTY]: Pasta Party - I want to have one.  Bring your own fave noodle shape (and dress like it too? hahah).  And noodle crafts!
  • [OUTING]: Square Dancing at Bryant Park - last one next MON 9/24, 6-9pm! ok!
  • [OUTING]: Let's have our own Dark Night (get it?: ) - we can check out Dialog in the Dark (one of the neatest exhibits I've been to in ATL when you experience blindness in urban settings, want to "see" the NY version) + Dans Le Noir (dining in the dark)!
  • [OUTING]: MnM (Movie n' Meal!) with Tim Burton and Disney's Frankenweenie, in theaters Oct. 5. Date TBD.
  • [JUST BECAUSE]: Tangled Ever After, enjoy!
More very soon - dreaming of all the fun: )

love-love!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's work, but I am still having an awesome time at the 2012 US Open Tennis Championships - will be playing and dancing as soon as it's over, so keep an eye out for more NYColor emails soon.  Reach out if you come, I'll give you a tour: ).

It's also incredible to really find my love for playing tennis again.  It has been a long while (over 10 years?), but it feels so good to hit with Vika's racquet (the Juice!) almost every night after hours - and I can't wait to keep playing this Fall.

Keep lovin'!  More soon, friends.

::Happy 4th::

Hello!

A very Happy July 4th to you all.  It's a beautiful day to be reminded of our freedoms and blessings, and I hope we can continue to live a life worthy of them.

Today, be revolutionary.  LIVE, eat, dance - do what you love, be with people you love, forgive and let go of whatever is holding you back.  Even when things don't go as expected, be excited about the adventure and surprises ahead.  It always works out for the best, and sometimes, you see fireworks at the end: ).

I hope you are already out with your friends and family, getting those grills started early (I'll be there soon too!) - but here are a few quick things to do today or put on your calendar:

Wed July 4th

  • Ends Today: Buy One Get One JAMBA JUICE - click HERE for the coupon!
  • Today Only: FREE hot coffee from STARBUCKS.
  • 7am-6pm: Note that the HIGHLINE (my fave!) closes at 6pm today (usually at 11pm), so no go with viewing fireworks there, sorry.  There's still time to go have a little picnic though!
  • 12-8pm: 4th of July Pig Roast & BBQ Block Party - charity for The Wounded Soldier Project - FREE burgers, hot dogs...and roasted pig! 32 Cliff St, NY. [FB invite]
  • 9pm: Find a good spot to see Macy's 36th Annual 4th of July Fireworks on the Hudson (25 min)! 18th to 43rd st. [website].
One more thing to add to your Independence Day picnics: a Patriotic Drink!
  • NEED: Ice cubes, cranberry juice, sprite, and blue Gatorade
  • POUR: Most sugar to least so you get the RWB effect. Enjoy!

Go Justin, Go!

This Saturday May 12th from 1-4pm, we're going to Randall's Island again to cheer on our friend Justin Y. as his team, the NY Rugby Club (FYI: the oldest rugby club in the US, who knew: ) faces off with the Village Lions Rugby Club.  We went last year, and it was really fun!
Join us - there will be free BBQ, drinks, snacks (Justin's famous spam musubi, yum!  That alone is worth the trek hehe), and of course, rugby!  It's like soccer, football, wrestling all into one.

Here's one video you can watch to prep you, if you haven't seen it before (click here).

For more details and to RSVP - see the Facebook invite HERE!  See you there!

Congrats, Tiffy!

The adorable Tiffany Y. was the first to correctly guess my favorite Chinatown Ice Cream Factory flavor (yes, black sesame!) and won the gift certificate from Slieberry Designs to enjoy some ice cream this summer!

We met up and made a night out of it: we started with BonChon Chicken + radish cubes (using a Yelp deal, of course - the meat was good, but the skin was a bit soggy and not crispy: ( and then shared a BiBimBap Burger from Social Eatz (winner of Eater's Best Burger in America competition), which made it all better - delicious night!

Good things do come for people who play, heheh, yay! (and thank you for the chocolates: ).
