US Open 2009!

A few of us from Vision plus my dance partner George made the trek to Flushing to see some great tennis last week in the quarterfinals: Serena vs. Flavia AND Nadal vs. Monfils! It was great to be onsite again, as many of you know that I worked on the Amex account at the US Open at a previous job, and it was exciting to be a part of such a great sporting event again. I forget how lucky we are to be so close, since many of my friends have traveled from other states to go see it.

Thanks to Steve L. for getting the tix!

p.s. don't get the shrimp crepe - disappointing! the other savory ones or the sweet crepes should be good though: )

Of course, had to go around and get freebies (I got a hat, sunscreen, yummy cookies, Greek yogurt and a photo, below: )

RECAP: Earth, Wind, and Fire + Chicago Concert

On Sunday 8/30, Becca and I hopped on the LIRR to Jones Beach to catch the Earth, Wind, and Fire + Chicago, and boy, it was a great time!

We had our own little VIP box seats, compliments of Citibank (one of the LiveNation sponsors and JMW's clients - thanks!), and it was definitely fun jammin' to old time favorites (see a few clips below).

Drinking with Gary V. on WineLibraryTV.com!

As many of you know, I won the MidtownLunch.com drawing to be one of the guests at Gary Vaynerchuk's table yesterday, and I had such a great time!! The taping took place at the Roger Smith Hotel on 47th and Lex, and it was right on the corner so people could stop and watch the show too.

The episode focused on French wines, and it definitely gave me a greater appreciation for wine and the depth you can go in smelling and tasting it. I learned so much, and it's incredible how sensitive our senses can be. I realized that I only know the basics (sweet, sour, bitter), and there are so many more levels of taste and smell that we can develop to enjoy a food or drink even more. Will work on that, but in the meantime, my fave wine of the show was the 3rd one, the Beaujolais, and I am hoping to have it with a nice fish dinner sometime soon!

Thanks Gary for opening my senses to something new to enjoy! Also looking forward to reading your new book, "Why NOW is the time to Crush It! Cash in on your passion". Love "sniffy sniff" haha.

A big thanks also to my new friend, Zach Brooks (photo above, left), creator of the great MidtownLunch.com, someone doing what he loves and sharing it with others in NY--and giving me a chance to do the same. Look forward to another food and wine adventure soon!
